My grandchildren went all the way through Catholic School, and I began working at Good Counsel when they were there.

Greeter, Door Holder, Lunch Counter, Attendance Keeper, Office Worker, Emergency Janitor/Hazardous material cleaner-upper, and whatever else comes up.

By everyone working together; we as a parish community can instill in each other values that will last a lifetime. To also be able to see the face of Jesus in each other's eyes.

I serve on the Advancement Core Team and the PTO Executive Committee.  I am also a member of St. Edward Parish and the Christian Mother's sodality.

Spending time with my three children and husband, walking my two dogs and reading.

It is who I am. I profess the Catholic faith and I feel Christ should be part of our schools.

To teach the whole child. Not only are we giving students about school. We are teaching about Christ. We are teaching students to be well prepared in life and in their faith.

My other activities at St. Edward are…
Being available where ever I am needed. I can be a mediator for our Hispanic community.

Being with my family, reading, and going to the movies. I also enjoy teaching my daughter new things.

The Catholic faith is central to my life, and is therefore central to my educational philosophy. Where Jesus is present, everything just works better. Integrating faith into education makes everyone more intellectual, and more spiritual Christians.

That we will help shape some of the most well-rounded, intellectual, and spiritual kids there are! People will meet St. Edward grads and immediately know who they are because of their character.

I have taught for a total of 19 years, and I began my career at St. Edward in 1999.

I chose to be a teacher because…
I wanted to make a difference in children's lives.  Everyone deserves an education and every child has the capacity to learn, just not always at the same rate.  I consider it a challenge to "unlock" young minds.  More than anything, I love to see the light flash in students' eyes and smiles form on their faces when they exclaim, "I've got it!"

My other activities at St. Edward are…
Director of After-School Tutoring, Summer School, and all Title 1 activities. I am also a parishioner and serve as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist.

I first taught at St. Edward in 1995 and taught here and at St. Mary from 1995-98.  I worked at Good Counsel Catholic School during the 1998-99 school year.  In 1999 the PE position opened up at my parish school, St. Theresa, and I have worked there since 2000. In 2006 I began sharing my week between St. Edward and St. Theresa Schools and continue that today.  I also worked for four years in the Little Rock Public Schools, teaching dance in the Arts in Education program.

I chose to be a teacher because…
I felt the calling to participate in providing a well-rounded experience for school aged children that included physical education and the values that can be learned through sports. In particular, having attended Catholic schools myself, I appreciate the difference a Catholic education can be to children of the inner-city in particular.

To me, the St. Edward mission statement means…
That every aspect of a child is important to us as a faculty. We should have a respect for the life of God that is present in all of His children.

My other activities at St. Edward are…
Cheer Squad organizer and helping out with the athletic program wherever I can.

When I am not at school, my favorite hobbies are…
Organic gardening and being an aspiring beekeeper. I also like to sew when I have time, but lately my spare time is used enjoying my new grandson!

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Spanish.

I began my career at St. Edward in 2004.

I also currently teach Spanish 2, 3 and 4 and 10th grade Religion, with emphasis on the Sacraments, at Catholic High School.  I have taught Spanish in pre-schools, elementary schools, and high schools for a cumulative total of 10 years. 

I chose to be a teacher because…
It is my vocation.  I did not choose teaching; teaching chose me. Teachers are able to touch the future in their vocation.

To me, the St. Edward mission statement means…
Jesus taught us that true leaders are those who serve and, as teachers, we show that we serve by meeting diverse educational needs. I try to meet the educational needs of all my students, including my native Spanish speakers. The Mission Statement of St. Edward School is reflected in my classroom by learning the prayers of our faith in Spanish and by learning about other cultures in Spanish speaking countries.

My other activities at St. Edward are…
Translating whenever it is needed. I am also a member of St. Edward Parish where I have taught English to Spanish speaking adults as well as Spanish to English speakers.  I have taught Catechism for Pre-confirmation.  I also sometimes fill in for the church office so that our Spanish speaking secretaries can take a vacation break if they wish.

Traveling and reading.

I received my BA at Benedictine College with a minor in Psychology. Previously, I have worked at Cynthia East Fabrics working in interior design. I also own my own jewelry and fine arts business.

I choose to work in Catholic education because…
I personally grew up in the Catholic school system in Little Rock and continued my Catholic education in College at Benedictine. I cannot imagine coming to teach my kids every day and not be allowed to express the love I have for such a beautiful faith. I live for my Catholic Faith!

To me, the St. Edward mission statement means…
That I am a part of a school that is rich in traditions and believes that everyone who walks through our doors should be welcomed with Christ’s love with open arms. Our students will learn how to be disciples in their education as well as their faith.

My other activities at St. Edward are…
I am currently spending most of my time working on the art program. I have students in here during their recess time for extra help! I am also an after care teacher on T, TH, F. 

When I am not at school, my favorite hobbies are…
Painting, plating with my puppy Oliver, and spending time with the people I love! I run my own business on the side and I also have a 3:00am adoration hour at Christ the King.
